Apple have unveiled the new iPad Air and iPad Mini 2, their final showcase of new products for 2013.
The iPad Air is 28% lighter, weighing less than 500 grams and 20% thinner than its predecessor. It is one of the best larger tablets in the world for those who want a full screen experience.
Available in either Silver or Space Gray, the new device has the following features:
- a 9.7-inch Retina display
- a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and 264 pixels-per-inch.
- It measures 169.5 mm by 240 mm
- 7.5mm thin
- weighs 469 grams with WiFi only or 478 grams for the 4G version
- 5 megapixel iSight camera
- Facetime HD front-facing camera
The fifth-generation iPad also sees the introduction of the company’s 64-bit A7 processor, also used in the iPhone 5s, alongside the M7 motion co-processor.
The device has an Australian starting price of $598 for 16 gigabytes on the WiFi only version, with a 32 gigabyte version for $699, 64 gigabytes for $799 and 128 gigabytes for $899.
With 4G support, the stating price goes increases to $749 16 gigabytes, $849 for 32 Gigabytes, $949 for 64 gigabytes or 128 gigabytes for $1049.
Apple have also designed the iPad Air Smart Cover and Smart Case to fit and protect it perfectly.

Apple also unveiled the iPad Mini 2 and while the design doesn’t vary much from the original iPad is has a faster processor than its predecessor, an A7 64-Bit processor, the same one that is packed into the iPhone 5s. Running iOS 7, the new iPad mini runs 4 times faster than it’s predecessor.
The iPad Mini now has a retina display that will make everything on the 7.9-inch screen look astonishingly clear. Along with the new fantastic screen, Apple has also sped up the internal chips while keeping it all inside the same light and thin body of the original. However, it does cost a lot more.

The iPad Mini 2 will be priced starting at $479 for a 16GB Wi-Fi only model and $629 for the 3G and Wi-Fi model. For storage size, you have the option of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB for $479, $598, $699 and $799, respectively.
